THOUGHT: What kind of President do you want?

Hello, Everyone. donovin here, with today's thought:

THOUGHT: What kind of President do you want?

I'll start with this YouTube clip from the movie, Head of State staring Chris Rock.

Prepare yourself, depending on on who you are, this blog may be long or short, boring or powerful, but it still has a point especially as people cast their vote today.

The President of The United States is elected and responsible to preform and enforce the laws written by Congress and, to that end, appoints the heads of the federal agencies, including the Cabinet.

What are the roles of the president?
The President is simultaneously 6 roles...

(1) chief of state, the formal head of a national state as distinguished from the head of the government.

(2) chief executive, implement policy, supervise the executive branch of government, prepare executive budget for submission to congress, and appoint and remove executive officials. The head of government is the chief officer of the executive branch of a government, often presiding over a cabinet.

(3) chief diplomat, negotiates treaties with foreign governments. He also appoints ambassadors. ... Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces: The President is the civilian head of the military and can order troops into battle or send them overseas.

 (4) chief legislator, As chief legislator, the president may suggest, request, and insist that Congress enact laws he believes are needed.

(5) commander in chief, Under the Constitution, the President as Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy is the supreme military commander charged with the responsibility of protecting and defending the United States. The phrase “Army and Navy” is used in the Constitution as a means of describing all the armed forces of the United States.

(6) chief economist, Opening foreign markets for American goods requires lowering or removing trade restrictions and tariffs on goods imported into the United States. As chief economist, the President must constantly balance many conflicting demands, including those of consumers, labor unions, and manufacturers.

(7) chief of party; One who provides leadership in the overall management of large projects or initiatives.

and (8) chief citizen; the face of the people, and represent his people as the popular leader. The president must be trustworthy and work for the public interest. The president must put the nations best interests above himself and one person or one group of people.

Some questions:
  • Knowing what P.O.T.U.S. duties are about, what kind of president do you want?

  • Have you seen great quality of character in our current president?

  • Do you think the current President has used his power for good of all people?

TO SUM IT UP

Who we elect as president not only affects us as a nation, but it also impacts other parts of the world.

The power is truly in our hands to pick the right person for the job as President of The United States.

Remember that when you....VOTE!

THIS IS THE MOST VITAL ELECTION IN HISTORY!

THOUGHT: Fear Or Faith......Which One Are You Holding Onto?

Hello, Everyone. donovin here, with today's thought: FEAR Or  FAITH ......Which One Are You Holding Onto? With all the concerns about COVID-19, I see there is a sense of fear going around. When I go to the grocery store and see people with masks on, I wonder if they are infected. Then they look at me without a mask as if I am doomed. There is a lot of mixed emotions about the whole thing and at the end of the day, the choice of how you react to the virus is yours. Before I thought of the question and title of today's thought...I was thinking of something my mother used to do with my younger sister and me. How our Mother would take us to the Video store (VHS) and would rent these cheesy zombie movies. You know these movies. The movie that would have you laughing on the floor beginning to end! Not with my Mother. My sister and I would be eating popcorn in front of the 25-inch console TV (revealing old age) on the grossest parts of the movie. I'd look bac

THOUGHT: The Direction of Your Anger (My George Floyd Reaction)

Hello, Everyone. donovin here, with today's thought:  The Direction of Your Anger (My George Floyd Reaction)  First of all, I want to send my condolences to the family and friends of George Floyd. My prayers and heart goes out to you for your loss. May God give you strength, His love, and comfort during this time. You lost a family member and/or a friend. The world lost another black man taken away from us too soon and his absence will be missed. Though I did not know George, He was/is someone's Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, etc. And his absence from the Black community and nation has been felt since his passing. I sent the past week remembering the fears of my mother and how she'd stress to me dealing with the police and statistics of black men being murdered or locked up in prison. that I would be lucky to reach 35 years old based on statistics at that time. Thank God for me beating those statistics, but there is unrest for black men in what is call

Some people are probably rolling their eyes or share the sentiment of the lady in the picture of the left. That's okay and I understand, but I wanted to share my thoughts about unnecessary language of cursing as I've known it growing up and it's so called proper name, profanity. Dictionary's meaning: verb (used without object) to use profanity; curse; swear. verb (used with object) to swear at; curse: He cussed the pedestrian for getting in his way. to criticize or reprimand in harsh terms (often followed by out): The coach cussed out the team for losing.
